first memory by Anotheroutsider first memory by Anotheroutsider
My first memory after being born is going with my mom to the kindergarten. I was very little, I've been told I was barely 3 years old, it was very early in the morning, and my mother had to go to work. She tried to leave me at the kindergarten, with no success whatsoever. I was crying my lungs out, standing on one side of the exit door, my mom on the other side. I remember I finally calmed down for a while, and met Vali, a strange little girl, who was warming herself by a little fireplace/stove. Then everything is blurred out. I've been told I was crying all the time, so I had to be moved in the same group my brother was in, even though he was 4 years older. He took care of me.

What's your first memory?

Oh, I remember something similar! when I was three years old my mom went working and I run after her car for meters, crying out loud, with my dad yelling behind me... I was desperate, really ;)
But my first memory is when my first dog had their puppies :3 I remember this 10 little dogs, 5 black and 5 white, in the afternoon sun... they were so special, for me :') It's one of my most precious memory.

This is really nice, I wonder how these first memories affect us further. I'm thinking butterfly effect here, what do these first memorized actions trigger in our evolution, what kind of behavior it changes, for us or for others. Also, I'm wondering why we remember these things, and not others. I believe that, for example, my first memory is not the only one of that kind [I think that wasn't my first day at the kindergarten]. And probably your memory of your mother going to work... well, she probably went to work before. But that's the very day you think of, when you're asked. It may not be the same thing with the puppies, of course :) but...
...it's this kind of inner revolution that fascinates me. A revolution so powerful, so strong, at such an early age, a revolution we never forget :)

for me this is really interesting, in fact I find that the first of our memories affect everything that followed, because basically people are what they remember: people live a life in which the consciousness of what they are derived only by the quantity and quality of what they remembered. It is a different matter if it is assumed that there is an unconscious reality that affects our actions.
In any case, speaking personally, I find that the memory of my first dog and all her black and white puppies has profoundly influenced my whole life :) That was the first real day of my life, and perhaps it is by knowing this firs memory that you understand the real personal character of a person ... but perhaps the matter is complicated
I only know that the memory of all those little dogs born in this sunny spring day always makes me remember what I feel and I know in my inner deep self...

My first memory has constantly been over debate for the last few years. Sometimes, it's sitting on the ground watching my mother snip off all of her gorgeous long waves of dark hair. Sometimes, it's being carried in my father's arms down a stone pathway, in search of our new home. Sometimes it's running around with a beach ball, laughing and playing with the grandfather I no longer remember.

My boyfriend remembers something far more dramatic; walking with bare feet in icy snow on a cool mountainside, all alone, eventually finding a mysterious little black box. He said he was around 4 or so at the time.

Oh my god, I just got to work, read you comment and it gave me a hell lot of goosebumps. I can picture in my head the images you described, and they're wonderful, very vivid, cinematographic. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. You've just made my day, and I'm really grateful for this. You're wonderful :)
I hope I'll someday have the skills to draw these shared memories, but in such a manner that they would transmit the same emotional energy and power...

Well, I was just a kid, and she really had to go to work, and I really had to learn to be on my own, for a change :) All the kids went through this, and I wasn't much of a special kid, so I needn't special treatment. Of course I cried, I was scared, but it was ok after all.
It's interesting that my first memory is mostly visual and pretty much detailed [and I really tried to remember something that happened before that, but it's just very blurry, and I can't put the elements in a certain order, and my mother couldn't remember either]. Your memory is a smell [if not the green door of the nursery]. I can't recall any smells, not even in my dreams. My dreams seem to have no sound, no smell, sometimes, they have a slight sense of touch, and they are mostly visual and dynamic.

I was strange kid who didn't cry xD hah. My parents used to leave me in granparent's house when I was about 2 so, when I was 5 I didn't care that they leave me ^-^ I think it's good :3
Hm, intresting, I remember a LOT of smells. Usually smells remind me of something what happend lot years ago. In my dreams is a lot of sounds! But yeah, no smells and no touch. Mostly visual ^-^
